Inclusive woodworking at Project Shed

The Support People run a very successful group in Bendigo called the ‘Project Shed’.  Originally this group was called the ‘Men’s Shed’ but it is open to everyone, so recently a decision was made to call it the ‘Project Shed’.

The Project Shed is a place where everyone can get involved. A place to work on new individual and group woodworking projects whilst having a chat with others and making new friends.  It is a place to put your woodworking skills to use or develop new ones.

We encourage a focus on people’s abilities rather than their disabilities. There is a project for everyone. Participants are encouraged to complete as much of the task as they can on their own and are offered support and assistance when needed.  Some of the projects they are currently working on are bird boxes, blanket boxes and bench seating for the garden.

Project Shed is but one example of the Life Skills Development programs on offer with The Support People.
